What was good about yesterday was that we generally improved in each race we did, and we identified the areas we're going to work on over the next few weeks. Perhaps somewhat annoyingly, the races got easier as the day went on, but the opportunity to practise high rates together in a race situation was a valuable experience and so we shouldn't complain too much!

We know that our start (particularly the second half of it and the stride) needs some attention, but we have the time and the resolve to work at this over the coming week. A focus on a long, relaxed and confident race rhythm will also help - this was already starting to come in the last two races. We just need to have the confidence and the belief in our technique and then that rhythm will come.

There is a lot of potential in this boat, and there were moments yesterday that made me excited for bumps. Our practice 'lift' in the third race was very good. On top of this, there were sections of steady state paddling where it's really starting to feel like we're getting connected together, and the difference that makes to our boat speed is impressive.

All in all, a very useful day's racing, and nice to have some medals out of it too!
