Fastest crew not to get on (8 mins 57.9 secs)
How frustrating. One thing is for certain though - you can't be disappointed with the row. It was solid and committed - no mistakes, just strong opposition.
You guys have come on hugely since I first coached you a few weeks ago. Come and watch next week, when you'll see what you're going to be competing for next term. You've all got a shot at a seat in a good May boat.

Well, that's a blow. To be the fastest crew not to get on, three whole seconds ahead of the next-placed crew, is really frustrating. Still, I think there's a lot that we can build on from this race.
We started really strongly, our practice on the reach beforehand really showing as we wound up to a rate 30. Our line was pretty solid coming into First Post Corner, and the rate held up. Coming around Grassy, it became clear that we would have to come past Churchill, who had started ahead of us - this was a sign that we were making good time. They very kindly took the outside line to allow us to come by on the inside, after which we swiftly moved ahead. Several more pushes took us over the line in great time.
My cox-box dying about 10 seconds after the start really was frustrating; still, thanks everyone for sitting up tall and focusing on my shouts. Let's take this term to really get that technique nailed, particularly the medium-rate stuff; hopefully we can try the GoR course again before the end of term and get the time down.
