A long, over-the-lock, sit-in-the-snow outing beforehand wasn't exactly conducive to fresh legs or warm bodies, but what we lacked in energy we more than made up for in the improvement we gained in our technique. Our focuses were simple - suspend in the drive, move together out of the finish. Generally, we held a solid rhythm throughout and achieved these aims. Could we have given it a bit more welly in the first half? Probably. Could we have been a bit tidier? Almost certainly. But was it a solid performance for our first race of term? Definitely.
