WINNERS! Beat Selwyn IV, Wolfson, Zephyr, Downing, Sidney
It all started with the worst sat boat in living memory, shocking Helen, truly shocking ☺
1st Round) Selwyn IV bribed heavily, very heavily, and had over a length head start. Which lasted all of ten seconds, as more by brute force than anything else, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were soundly beaten by many lengths.
2nd Round) After a quick pub stop and plenty of sweets at the P&E, Wolfson were next and their red purchased "cardinal" costumes. Our crew was somewhat different too, Dave+Bee for Nell as cox, Helen moving to bow side for Elena, and Laura in for Helen at two. We had Alice bank flirting, and a comfortable win by two lengths ensued.
Quarter-F) Zephyr, the University windband apparently, but they could also row. Even with bribes a plenty we started level and only won by a length.
Semi-F) Downing may have been Noah's ark, however they were the team we had noted as being " " quick, and thus had saved many bribes only to find out they were no longer allowed. It wasn't until the last 50m that we clawed back the half length disadvantage we had for having the inside line, and powered through to win by one metre!
Final) Sidney had had two byes on the way to the final, including Jesus1 (a quad) scratching after beating our 2nd VIII. The final is 250m, spin, 250m (no further Joel). We weren't taking any chances and practiced our spinning three times in the warm up, before winning easily by many many lengths. So we won the Cardinals Trophy, and as requested will get it engraved.
