1st Round: Beat King's easily; Quarter-final: lost to Sidney Sussex by 2 1/2 lengths
Thanks to Alice's coaching we have come together as a crew nicely over the last week.
Really enjoyed today's racing a lot. The race against Kings was brilliant: we were told to drop down to 80% pressure even before the railway bridge and had a relaxed row up to the finish line.
quarter final: Sidney were faster right from the start- but we gave them a good fight. We had a couple of strong pushes and closed in on them once, but unfortunately they responded well and pushed off us. I think everyone in the boat enjoyed the race none the less. Well rowed and keep up the good work!

1st Round: after lots of faffing to get lined up in pretty difficult conditions, we had a pretty good start and went straight up on Kings. We then hit a really good rhythm, and held it together, even when we hit a massive head wind - Kings, on the other hand, basically stopped. We pulled further and further away all the way down the course, until Anton told us to take the rating down, and we crossed the finish line at a relaxed rate 25.
Quarter Final: There was a similar amount of faff to get lined up again, and when we eventually did go off, Sidney were slightly in front of us, not to mention pointing straight at us. Our start this time was weaker, and not helped by blade clashes (leading Becky to scream something unrepeatable at the other cox), and Sidney pulled away from us. However, we settled into another good rhythm and held it all the way, even moving into them several times thanks to a co-ordinated and enthusiastic response to Becky's calls. Unfortunately they managed to push off us every time and never lost the lead they gained in the first 200m. Still, we never let them relax in front of us, and they certainly looked knackered at the end.
Overall, it was a good afternoon of racing that I'm immensely proud of, and I think this bodes well for the eight. Good work girls.

1st Round: Crashed! Lost to Downing
I think we can all agree that was the best rowing we've experienced all term, chunky, sustainable and best of all feeling like we were rating 3-4 pips lower than we actually were (and a few pips below Downing while reeling them in if our bank party is to be believed).
Things are looking for the rest of the term if we can stick together as a crew and continue improving like this. A good race to mark my first on bowside.
re. Esther, it was definately Grassy.

Grassy or Ditton?

It was my first time coxing a race on the Cam, and I have to say that I really was very impressed with the speed, commitment and dedication! The rating genuinely did feel sustainable, and I can confirm that, had it not been for that pesky outer bank of Grassy Corner, we would have wound in our opponents pretty well.
Thanks guys for a great outing; I think that this bodes well for the future.

Really great outing guys! First time together as a crew, but it felt long, chunky and fast. Settled at a very sustainable 32, it never felt rushed, just smooth and powerful. We reigned Downing in by 50m by Grassy corner and probably would have overtaken them down the reach had it not been for the outside bank of Grassy!
As I said at the finish: the best possible result. We know we're damn fast, but we didn't have to do it twice!
