Results and reports by Event

For much of W1, this was the first race after a long week of exams, and we were raring to let off some steam. We pulled up to the start line under a hot summer’s sun, and we were off with the call from the marshal. After some strong first strokes, we found our rhythm and gave a strong, tight row at the head of the course. Next was the long stretch along the Reach. It was a lengthy, hard row, especially given the heat wave at the time, but Phil called us together and we pushed all the way to the end, even managing to increase the rate a couple of times (while also dodging a stray paddle boarder on the river!) We had given it our all as we crossed the line and it showed in our results – the fastest boat in our division, as well as a bonus award for the best line around Grassy Corner. A fantastic result for W1 and a fun competition!
